CHOOSING THE BEST STROLLER TO TAKE ON VACATION
CHOOSING THE BEST STROLLER TO TAKE ON VACATION
All parents have been there... An exhausting, sleep-deprived, caffeine-fuelled, OMG-my-life-has-changed-forever, barely-time-for-a-bath, incredible, magical period of getting to know your new arrival. But totally desperate for a vacation!
It is super easy to be put off from booking it… Friends and family will all fuel your anxiety, focusing on how long the flight or drive probably is, how much you have to take with you, how brave you are for even thinking about travelling with a baby... Brave!? What you have just been through is the brave bit!
Yes, it is easier to fly and travel without kids.
Yes, you will take A LOT of stuff with you.
And yes, venturing into the unknown and travelling for the first time as parents is pretty brave. But trust me - you got this!
Depending on how old your little is, there is plenty to read on what to take away with you, lots of ideas of what to pack to make the journey easier to manage, what to look for in hotels for babies, hotel or apartment? the most kid-friendly airlines, etc. But let me help with an important ingredient that is nearly always forgotten:
How to pick the right stroller to travel on vacation with.

Light and easy to handle
You will have so much other stuff with you, so it needs to be super lightweight to push and carry, and easy to manoeuvre and fold up and down - ideally with 1 hand - we are multitasking! The more compact it can fold the better to take up less space in your hotel closet, the trunk of your rental, or the uber from the airport.

Comfortable and safe
Just like when you are out and about at home, you’ll probably want your little to take naps in the stroller - this can make sight-seeing walks and mealtimes out at restaurants far more manageable! So it needs to be comfortable, have a decent amount of recline - but also be relatively sturdy and of course safe.

Protection from the sun
If you are chasing the sun, then it is super important to make sure the canopy provides a good amount of shade with UV protection. And you may want to think about getting additional UV snooze shades to use with your stroller for when the sun is lower in the morning or evening - there are plenty available on Amazon. Likewise make sure it has a rain cover, because you won’t want to be prisoners to your hotel room if it rains - and it also gives you way more flexibility with destinations to consider for your trip!

Not too expensive!
Cost is also an important factor - airlines are notorious for not treating your stroller great, so we think it is no good making a massive investment in something that will probably get scratched, scuffed, dirty and thrown about. You can relax on the flight not worrying about your super expensive stroller - leave that one locked away safely at home!
Do you really need one that folds up into the cabin?
With so many airlines now taking your stroller into the hold at the plane doors, you can use all travel strollers in the terminal. Just the same, some airports and airlines will give you your stroller right as you get off the plane - this is definitely worth checking before you travel.
It is great if your stroller can fit in the cabin, but in reality you’ll have so many snacks, toys and extra essentials in your carry-on to keep baby occupied (and ideally asleep!) through the flight, that we think it takes up space you are better off using for your other items - and taking 2 or more trips from the door of the plane to your seat to carry everything in, while holding your baby, is impossible with a big queue of passengers behind you! We've found it easier and less stressful to just put the stroller in the hold. Either way, you’ll definitely need to have another solution to carry your baby in while you are on vacation and you can use this in the terminal and coming back through security before collecting your baggage and stroller if you need to wait, as they may not want to sit in the stroller for all that time anyway, and it is really useful to have both hands free. There are so many carriers available on the market - you’ll definitely find one that both you and baby are comfortable using. But just make sure you get baby used to the carrier before you travel!

The Your Babiie “Soho” Compact Travel Stroller has been designed and priced with all of this experience in mind, and you’ll also be able to travel in style!
We love how easy it is to fold and how light it is to push and carry. It is sturdy for its class, reclines right back and the protection from the canopy (with UV) is excellent. There is also an adjustable leg rest to make nap time more comfortable, and the stroller is suitable from birth.
With a handy basket and space for your essentials it is great around the city as well as on your travels.
It also comes with a rain cover - so you can use it all year round!
At just $119.99 it is super affordable and great value for money. Check it out online here.
